PROJECT description:

The design for CO00, was specifically viewed as a nest for contemplation, relaxation, and giving back to nature. We wanted the house, not to be a block development, but for it to be a careful consideration of the site and its natural habitat. In this regard, we trisected the building pad in three distinct environments.

One for the vehicular and front entry access, which partitions the living area away, providing privacy for the house.

The second is the pool deck which stands for sunlight, openness, and breadth, oriented towards the view.

The third is a contemplation garden, tucked away in the solitude of the astern part of the house.

The house is intentionally modest and boasts a clean and modern aesthetic with a nod to the coziness of an a-frame home. The overall form in cross-section is taken from a traditional house, one that children sketch in their interpretation of a house.

The house will also pioneer in green techniques and technologies, such as grey-water recycling for irrigation, storm-water runoff recapture, solar roof technology as well as green-certified materials and construction methods. The house has an intimate relationship with nature, through the three courtyards that extend its contact area with the surrounding. Furthermore, a vegetable garden has been created as a terraced extension of the kitchen area where Hannah can plant and grow her own food.

In addition, the house has connected the upper floors to the existing terraced pads, so that the upper floors can take advantage of the natural surrounding and the agricultural setting of the property.
