PROJECT description:

Located in Mandeville Canyon high in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains WE46 is a private residential project that expresses the idea of a single space having many uses. The two-story structure is a series of geometric shapes stacked on top of one another that when placed in an irregular order create sight lines and environments that endlessly fracture the feeling of being in a single space. The dramatic vista below the residence allows for the myriad of outdoor environments to be enjoyed. Each section of the structure is designed as to offer an unobstructed and personal space within a larger single residency. The addition of an accessible rooftop allows for a communal space to add levity and a togetherness. The iconic black spiral staircase that centers the ground floor is designed to both shield and fracture the connecting space between the common areas and the extensive private bedrooms.
